Dr. Astrid Reyes - Veterinarian

Dr. Reyes was born in El Paso but lived in Mexico until her final years of college. She attended The University of Texas at El Paso, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. After graduation, she completed a six-month internship at a big cat rescue in Arkansas, caring for tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, and bears.

She then returned to El Paso to work as a veterinary technician before leaving home again to attend veterinary school. Dr. Reyes graduated from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine and decided to remain in the Pacific Northwest to practice as a small animal veterinarian.

Dr. Reyes enjoys building relationships with her patients and their owners and values the human-animal bond.

In her spare time, she alternates between enjoying the outdoors in every season and being a homebody with her lap cats, watching movies under a blanket with a hot drink in hand.

In your words, what is your job at Beaverton Pet Clinic? Any special projects or responsibilities?
As a veterinarian, my goal is to work closely with pet owners to provide the best possible care for their companions. I strive to answer any questions they may have about their pet’s health and help guide them through treatment options and recommendations so they can make informed decisions for their pets.

Why did you decide to work at Beaverton Pet Clinic?
Everyone at Beaverton Pet Clinic is committed to providing the highest standard of care for every patient they see. As soon as I realized we shared the same values and approach to veterinary medicine, I knew it was a place where I wanted to be.

Do you have any pets?
I have two cats, Cleo and Chester. Cleo is a torbie who alternates between being a super independent, nowhere-to-be-found cat and the sweetest lap cat when she wants to be. Chester is an orange cat who checks every box of the classic orange cat stereotype -- so much so that I made sure he's on pet insurance.

Tell us a little known fact about you!
I travel a couple of times a year to Mexico to visit family
